Replacing the sink mixer before the rest of the kitchen gets a refresh? The Nero Dolce II Sink Mixer with Square Spout in Gun Metal is a one-hole swap for most kitchen and laundry sinks. The spout turns a right angle instead of a curve and the slim lever sits tight to the body, so it stays tidy on a busy bench. It is made from 304 stainless steel right through, with no plating to wear off. The lever opens on cold first, meaning a splash under the tap never wakes the hot water system. Out of the carton it runs a 5 star aerator at 6 litres per minute; swap in the supplied 6 star aerator (4.5 litres per minute) to trim water use further. Covered by a 15 year warranty. Also available in Chrome, Matte Black, Brushed Nickel and Brushed Gold.

• 304 stainless steel body and spout, so a tap that gets used all day has no plating to peel
• Square spout and slim lever that line up with a straight benchtop and splashback
• Cold start lever, which saves the hot water system firing for every quick rinse
• Two aerators supplied: 5 star 6 litres per minute fitted, 6 star 4.5 litres per minute spare, plus the spanner to change them
• Polyamide PEX flexible hoses with 1/2 inch BSP female ends, ready for standard Australian plumbing
• Gun metal PVD finish, a hard coating bonded to the steel rather than a plated layer
• 15 year warranty from Nero

Hob mounted through a single hole and made for mains pressure only, between 150 and 500kPa. Not sure what you have? Ask your plumber first. Match it to Dolce II basin mixers, wall mixers and shower sets in the same finish for a tidy whole-house look.

Laundry taps and spout past their best? The Caroma Elegance II Laundry Set in Chrome is a three piece set: hot and cold wall taps plus a swivel laundry outlet, so you can replace the lot in one go. The taps are lead free brass (under 0.25% lead) that meets the new lead free WaterMark standard, which matters when you're swapping out an older set. They run on copper jumper valves, so a drip is fixed with a washer rather than a new tap. WELS 4 star at 7.5 litres a minute, enough flow to fill a trough quickly. Flanges, handles, nuts, clips, a threaded nipple, inlet socket and a spanner all come in the box. Backed by a 20 year warranty (see the Caroma warranty document for what is covered). Made in China.

• Hot and cold wall taps plus a swivel outlet in one box, so the whole trough set matches
• Lead free brass under 0.25% lead, which meets the new lead free WaterMark standard
• Copper jumper valves, so a worn washer is a quick fix rather than a replacement tap
• WELS 4 star at 7.5 litres a minute, a decent flow for filling buckets and the tub
• Swivel laundry outlet with a cover plate that swings clear of the trough
• Wall flanges, retaining nuts, clips and a spanner included for your plumber
• 20 year warranty (see the Caroma warranty document for what is covered)

Rental laundry needs a working tap, not a showpiece? The Caroma Tasman Sink Mixer in Chrome is the no frills option: solid lead free brass (under 0.25% lead) that meets the new lead free WaterMark standard, a 40mm cartridge and a swivel spout, nothing you don't need. It stands 129mm high with a 264mm reach, so it tucks under a window and still covers a double bowl. The WELS rating is 4 star at 7.5 litres a minute. Flexible SoftPEX tails and the flow regulated aerator insert are included. It's backed by a 10 year warranty (see the Caroma warranty document for what is covered), shorter than the other Caroma mixers here but fair for the price. Made in China.

• Lead free brass under 0.25% lead, which meets the new lead free WaterMark standard
• 40mm cartridge for smooth control and a long working life
• Low 129mm body with a long 264mm swivel spout, so it fits under a window and reaches both bowls
• Durable chrome finish that wipes clean
• WELS 4 star at 7.5 litres a minute
• Flexible SoftPEX tails and aerator insert in the box
• 10 year warranty (see the Caroma warranty document for what is covered)

Kitchen sink mixer leaking at the base? The Raymor Atlanta Sink Mixer in Brushed Nickel is a gooseneck kitchen mixer with a pin lever handle, in the traditional Atlanta style that suits older homes and country kitchens. The spout swivels and stands 363mm high with a 183mm reach, so there's room to fill a stockpot or rinse a roasting tray. It's hob mounted through one tap hole, a straightforward replacement for most sinks. The body is lead free brass under a brushed nickel electroplated finish, with a 35mm ceramic disc cartridge sitting in a brass housing for a long, drip-free life. Braided flexible hoses with a PERT lining are fitted. WELS 5 star rated at 6.0 litres a minute. Also available in Chrome and Black.

One set, two rooms. The Nero Serenity Bath/Kitchen Set Arc Spout With Rome Travertine Handle in Brushed Gold is wall-mounted and built to serve either a bath or a kitchen, with a curved arc spout that keeps the flow smooth and clear of the sink or bath. It's a straight swap for a tired old set, and just as at home in a new fit-out. The handle is genuine Rome Travertine natural stone, so the veining and texture on yours won't match anyone else's. The Brushed Gold finish wipes clean, and the lead-free composition makes it a sound pick for drinking water. WELS 5 Star rated at 5L/min, WaterMark certified. Designed in Australia and backed by a 25 year warranty.

• Durable, high-quality Brushed Gold finish that wipes clean and holds up to daily use
