A 1600mm bath sits between the two most common sizes, giving a little more length to stretch out than a 1500mm tub without needing the full 1700mm. Tradelink's 1600mm range is mostly freestanding and back to wall designs from Caroma, Decina, ADP and Clark, including round and soft-edged shapes.

It is the size to consider when your bathroom has a little more room than a standard 1500mm space, or when you are planning a freestanding bath with space around it. A 1600mm bath will not fit a 1500mm recess, so measure the opening before you choose. Always confirm your bath size and style with your plumber before purchasing.

Is a 1600mm bath much bigger than a 1500mm bath?

It adds 100mm of length, which is noticeable for taller bathers. The width and depth vary by model, so compare the dimensions in each listing.

Can a 1600mm bath go where a 1700mm bath was?

Yes for a freestanding bath, as long as the waste position works. For an inset or back to wall bath, the 100mm gap needs to be finished with tiles or a trim, so plan it with your plumber.

Are 1600mm baths freestanding only?

Most in this size are freestanding, with back to wall freestanding styles that sit flush against one wall for easier cleaning.

Do I need a plumber to install a 1600mm bath?

Yes. A licensed plumber connects the waste and overflow and checks the floor waste position, which matters most with freestanding baths.
