Being loose wire, you space the cables yourself to set the heat output you want per square metre. The Thermonet mat installs above the screed, directly under tiled floors. Its self-adhesive mesh holds everything in place, which makes self-levelling and tile fixing easier. That mesh also keeps the cable spacing even, so heat spreads consistently across the floor. Warm tiles in July: it's a treat. Underfloor heating is an electrical job, so this is one to hand to your electrician.
